I have just returned from the Almond Casuarina Beach in Barbados. What a fantastic hotel this is. The room that I had was a superior deluxe ocean view and I have to say this is probably the best view I have ever had the privilege of. You step out onto the balcony with and sit on your dining chairs with cushions and take in the amazing view before you. You can hear the ocean lapping against the shore - what a truly fabulous sound that is. The hotel is on the fabulous Dover/Maxwell beach with its beautiful white sands. The sea is a little bit livelier than on the West Coast however its great to jump the waves and even better if you want to use a boogie board. The hotel has three restuarants – the Dover which is a fish restaurant positioned right on the beach and next to the mian pool. Enids which serves Caribbean food and Waves which is the main restaurant and alters between buffett and A la Carte. You do have to make reservations at Guest Servies for all three restuarants, so you need to do that as soon as you arrive. My favourite would be Dover restaurant for its setting and the beautiful food. The staff are really friendly and will always help you in any way they can. Even getting you another drink before you have finished the one you have. There is entertainment every night in the hotel but it is very low key. The main closes at 11pm and then you move into the lobby bar which stays open until 2pm. Towards the end of the holiday they had a man playing a piano – well an organ actually – but it was known as the piano bar. It is about a 10 mimute walk into St Lawrence Gap where there are loads of restuarants serving fresh fish of the day or typical Caribbean food. The bars there are buzzing there on a night time and have lots of happy hours too. There is a new Brazilian bar opening in the next couple of weeks which is going to be great apparantly. I would recommend doing the Sea Safari Catamaran where you snorkel with turtles and beautiful coloured fish plus you get to chance to see some of the ship wrecks of Carlisle Bay. I had an amazing holiday in Barbados and I am already planning my next trip back there next year.
